Scrum in 2025: Rethinking Agility from the Inside Out
20. June 2025
What does Agile really look like in 2025?
Recently, our colleague from Lviv Hub, Ivan Kamyshan, took us beyond the traditional Scrum playbook and into the evolving world of real-life Agile. His knowledge sharing session challenged familiar assumptions and offered a modern take on how companies are reshaping agility to meet today’s complex challenges.
While Scrum remains a widely used framework, Ivan emphasized that many leading organizations no longer follow it by the book. Instead, they adapt and evolve their processes—sometimes bending the rules, sometimes rewriting them entirely—to better suit distributed teams, cloud-based infrastructures, and fast-paced product cycles.
“Agile should adapt to people, not force people to adapt to Agile.”
His talk explored how major companies like Microsoft, ING Bank, Barclays, and Brazil’s Boa Vista are moving beyond conventional Scrum to more flexible approaches, including Adaptive Agile and Swarm Agile.
Trends Ivan Explored:
- Adaptive Agile
Used by teams at Microsoft and ING, this model adjusts roles and team structures dynamically based on context, allowing more fluid collaboration across functions and domains. - Swarm Agile
Popular in tech startups and innovation-focused teams, Swarm Agile brings together small cross-functional groups to swarm around tasks, then disband or careconfigure as priorities shift. - Evolving Roles
From redefining the Product Owner’s responsibilities to flattening hierarchies, many companies are customizing Agile roles to better reflect how real teams work and communicate.
What stood out in the session was the strong reminder that agility is not about rigid adherence to frameworks – it’s about responsiveness, clarity, and delivering value. Ivan encouraged the team to stay critical and curious, reminding us that continuous improvement means questioning even the most familiar structures.
At Conscensia, this type of peer-led knowledge sharing is part of how we grow together. It helps us stay sharp, connected, and aligned with the evolving tech landscape. Thanks to Ivan for his thoughtful insights, and to everyone who joined the session and contributed to the discussion.
