20 Years of Conscensia: Technology Changes – Great Teams Still Come Down to People
10. September 2026
Twenty years is a long time in technology.
Programming languages have come and gone. Cloud computing has transformed how software is built and delivered. Agile development has become mainstream. AI is changing the industry again.
Conscensia has changed too. What began 20 years ago with dedicated development teams in Ukraine has grown into an international organisation approaching 300 colleagues, with a significant presence in both Ukraine and Poland and long-term relationships with technology companies across Northern Europe.
But ask our CEO Line Færch Milthers, who has spent 17 of those 20 years at Conscensia, what has mattered most, the answer is less about technology than you might expect.

“Almost everything around us has changed during those 20 years – the technologies, the size of the company, the countries we operate in and the challenges our customers face. But one thing has remained remarkably consistent: Conscensia has always been a people business. Our strongest customer relationships are built on trust, and the best teams are the ones where people feel that they genuinely belong.”

That continuity helps explain how Conscensia has developed from a provider of dedicated development teams into a long-term technology partner focused on helping customers build, scale and strengthen business-critical software teams and capabilities.
Customer partnerships measured in decades
The length of many of Conscensia’s customer relationships is remarkable. Several customers have worked with us for 10-15 years. One of the longest-standing relationships is with the Danish IT company Systematic that develops solutions within healthcare, defence, critical infrastructure, national security and library.
Systematic became a Conscensia customer in 2010 and, in 2012, became a part-owner of the company.
For Michael Holm, founder of Systematic, the decision to invest reflected the strategic importance of building a stable, long-term relationship around software development.

“For Systematic, becoming an owner was a way of demonstrating that we saw the relationship as strategic and long-term. Besides getting access to talented developers; we also needed a partner that could understand our organisation, our high standards and the way we develop mission-critical software systems and system solutions. Conscensia has provided that stability over many years. The teams become deeply integrated into our development organisation, and that continuity gives us both strong technical competencies and the ability to scale while maintaining the quality and culture that are important to Systematic.”

From Ukraine to an international organisation
Ukraine has been part of Conscensia’s story from the beginning.
For 20 years, Conscensia has worked with dedicated development teams in Ukraine, connecting highly skilled IT professionals with customers that need more than short-term access to development capacity.
Our delivery model has always been based on integration, where Conscensia colleagues become part of the customer’s organisation and development teams for years.
In 2019, Conscensia expanded its services to Warsaw in Poland. In 2026, the Warsaw Tech Hub has grown to more than 100 colleagues. The expansion reflects a broader strength built over two decades: experience in identifying locations where strong technology talent, business conditions and cultural fit create the right foundation for long-term customer teams. As customer needs and talent markets evolve, Conscensia continues to assess which countries are best suited for building and operating high-performing software teams.
20 years – including some extraordinary ones
The strength of long-term partnerships becomes especially visible when circumstances suddenly change. The past several years have tested that strength in ways few could have anticipated.
Conscensia and its colleagues have navigated the COVID-19 pandemic and the full-scale war in Ukraine. For a company with a major Ukrainian organisation, the war has been particularly profound. Yet through these periods, teams have continued delivering for customers while Conscensia has worked to support our colleagues and maintain stable operations.
Line Færch Milthers says: “There have been moments during the past 20 years that none of us could have imagined. What has impressed me most is the commitment people have shown – to their colleagues and to their customers. Stability isn’t about nothing changing around you. It’s about being able to rely on each other when it does.”
That resilience has strengthened rather than weakened many customer relationships. Today, Conscensia has reached its highest-ever customer satisfaction, with an NPS of 73.
Developing the core of Conscensia
As Conscensia enters its third decade, the company is also sharpening its focus.
Dedicated development teams remain at the heart of our business. But customers’ needs have evolved.
The challenge for many technology organisations today is no longer simply finding additional developers. They need access to the right IT specialist competencies, teams that can become productive quickly, stronger engineering practices within AI, and the ability to scale development without losing quality and knowledge.
Conscensia’s core services are developing around those needs.

“Twenty years gives us something valuable: experience. We know what makes distributed development succeed, and we also know where it can fail. Our opportunity now is to build on that experience – strengthening our core services, developing our presence in Europe and helping more customers create technology organisations that can perform over the long term.”
