Artificial Intelligence has quickly become a part of our everyday lives, but not everyone knows how to make the most of it. At Conscensia, we believe that mastering new technologies is not only about tools, but also about mindset, and our recent knowledge-sharing session proved just that.

Conducted by Paweł Twardziak, Senior Software Developer at our Warsaw Hub, the online event brought together colleagues from Poland and Ukraine for a deep dive into one of the hottest topics in tech right now: prompt engineering.

“Effective prompts are not just simple questions – they are structured instructions. The more specific and intentional you are, the better the AI will respond,”
explains Paweł.

Why Prompt Engineering Matters

While many of us use AI tools daily, few stop to consider why some people consistently get better results. Paweł highlighted that the difference lies less in the technology itself and more in how we communicate with it.

At its core, a modern AI model is a next-word predictor, processing tokens rather than words as humans understand them. The way you set up your prompt — the structure, context, and constraints — determines the quality of the answer you receive. In other words: context is king.

Core Concepts from the Session

The session broke down both fundamental and advanced prompt engineering techniques:

  • The RICO Framework: Role (who the AI should be), Instructions (what to do), Context (what it needs to know), and Output format (how to present results)
  • Advanced Techniques: From zero-shot and few-shot prompting to chain-of-thought reasoning, which dramatically improves performance on complex tasks by teaching AI to “think step by step”
  • Proven Frameworks: Approaches like CLEAR and RISEN that act as checklists for creating high-quality prompts
  • Practical Examples: Clear demonstrations of how vague prompts generate generic responses, while well-crafted prompts unlock precise, professional outputs

Paweł emphasized a crucial mindset shift: moving from simply asking questions to architecting prompts. Instead of treating AI like a search engine, prompt engineers design the interaction, giving the model clarity, direction, and purpose.

Beyond the Hype

The lively online discussion, with active participation not just from Warsaw but also from our Lviv Hub, showed just how relevant this topic is for our community. By exploring prompt engineering together, we’re building the skills to use AI as a genuine productivity and creativity enhancer, rather than just a novelty.

For Conscensia, these sessions are about more than knowledge transfer. They reflect our culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and staying ahead of technological change – values that define how we work with each other and with our clients.

Final Thoughts

AI isn’t replacing developers anytime soon, but it is reshaping the way we work. By learning how to communicate with AI more effectively, our teams can focus on higher-value tasks and deliver stronger results for our clients.

Prompt engineering is not about tricks – it’s about clarity. The more you guide the AI, the more useful it becomes. That’s the skill we should all be developing.
