Portugal is a very popular destination for businesses and IT professionals due to its innovative and cultural environment. Portugal has an increased focus on the IT industry and has, among other things, introduced a tech visa for IT specialists outside Schengen.

Portugal has 230,000 IT specialists and with 28% of university students in Portugal studying computer science or engineering, the IT industry will experience a continuous influx of talent.

Companies often choose Portugal because of its large talent pool, European time zone, good English language skills, cheaper prices than other Western European countries and stability. In addition, Portugal is a member of NATO and the EU and therefore subject to the same legal requirements as Denmark.

The most popular programming languages in Portugal are Java, JavaScript, SQL, C# and HTML/CSS and Python. Local differences may occur.

Porto

Porto is Portugal’s 2nd largest city and due to the University of Porto and Porto Polytechnic, there is a large talent pool in computer science and technology. Every year, 5,300 students are educated in Porto in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Porto has developed into a hub for innovation and technology, with many start-ups and companies benefiting from attractive conditions supported by the government and the EU. Porto has a great infrastructure and a large international airport with direct flights to our Tech Hub from Copenhagen, so within 3-4 hours you can build relationships with your team in person in Porto.

Our branch in Porto

Conscensia Tech Hub in Porto was established as a legal entity in 2022. We have so far been able to meet the market demand from our two other hubs, but we estimate that it is likely that we will start up the first customers in Portugal in 2025. In this way, we will have a broad offering for you as customers via our 3 tech hubs.
